I have only a few words to say today about Al Traverse: we all know he has a book to finish so I’ll keep it brief so he can get back to work.
Alfred Traverse in a way, is Palynology. I don’t mean this in the sense that he possess a waxy, sporopollenin skin or coat, but more so in the sense that he has shaped, sculptured if you will, and defined this discipline that is Palynology, and, especially, Paleopalynology. He was there at the very beginning of AASP, although I believe he favored the Society of North American Palynologists (SNAP) as the name for the society.
